This was the ANCES Assembly and Technical Meeting in Zaragoza
BIC Araba took part in the ANCES Technical Meeting (National Association of Spanish BICs), held at the Etopia venue in Zaragoza. Over two days, directors and technicians from the 33 BICs in the network analysed the strategies that are shaping the future of business innovation and digital transformation in Europe.
Organised by CEEI Aragón, the event brought together key figures from the national and European entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Cristina Fanjul, President of ANCES, highlighted that the aim of the meeting was to “address business growth strategies, the role of BICs in innovation ecosystems, and the global and local challenges that define the future of competitiveness.”
BIC Araba’s technical team took an active part in the different working groups, sharing experiences and best practices in supporting innovative entrepreneurship, public–private cooperation, and the digital transformation of startups.
The event also featured an address by Laura Lecci, CEO of the European network EBN (European Business & Innovation Centre Network), who emphasized the importance of the EUBIC model in the current context:
“Forty years after their creation, the BICs have proven their ability to adapt to the digital and green transitions.
Today, their mission is more important than ever: to foster sustainable, inclusive, and globally connected innovation,” she noted.
The meeting offered a rich programme of content, including round tables and workshops on public–private collaboration, international cooperation, artificial intelligence applied to entrepreneurship, and opportunities for startups in emerging sectors such as Defence.
Among the speakers were Sergio López (Hiberus), José Luis Vallejo (Sngular), Gonzalo Sánchez Urbón, José Ignacio Miguelena Hycka (Mecanus Innovación), and Urko Benito (WeGetIt), who led a hands-on workshop on privacy and security in the use of AI tools.
The closing session was delivered by Colonel Pedro Baños Bajo, who gave an inspiring lecture on geopolitics and global strategy.
BIC Araba’s participation in this event reinforces its commitment to the ANCES network and its role as a driving agent of innovative entrepreneurship in the Basque Country, aligned with European trends in digitalisation, sustainability, and territorial cooperation.
