The Provincial Council of Álava has officially opened the application period for two strategic support schemes: Emprender en Álava 2026 and Álava Innova–Descarboniza 2026. These calls aim to foster entrepreneurship, business creation and consolidation, innovation, digitalisation and sustainability within the economic fabric of the Historical Territory of Álava.

Emprender en Álava 2026: support for business creation and consolidation

The Emprender en Álava programme seeks to promote the creation and consolidation of new companies in Álava, supporting initiatives that contribute to the modernisation, diversification and competitiveness of the local productive ecosystem.

• Application period: currently open (applications must be submitted via the electronic headquarters).
• Funding amount: new businesses may receive grants of up to €80,000, aimed at project investment and consolidation, according to the evaluation criteria.
• Beneficiaries: individuals or legal entities carrying out activities in the Historical Territory of Álava with projects that promote innovation or improved competitiveness.

This support scheme is structured around two main lines:

• Creation of new business units, covering costs linked to launching the project.

• Consolidation and growth, aimed at businesses already in operation that wish to take the next step in their development.

Applications may be submitted electronically or in person, and a digital certificate is required to complete the procedure.

Álava Innova–Descarboniza 2026: innovation, digitalisation and sustainability

At the same time, the Álava Innova–Descarboniza 2026 programme has also opened its call, providing funding for initiatives that promote innovation, digital transformation and the transition towards a low-carbon economy.

• Application period: from 1 January to 16 March 2026.
• Total budget: €2,000,000 allocated for the 2026 financial year.
• Individual grants: subsidies may cover between 20% and 60% of eligible costs, with a maximum amount ranging from €20,000 to €60,000 per project, depending on the size of the entity and the assessment of the proposal.

Eligible actions include:

• Innovation in products, processes or services.

• Implementation of advanced digital technologies.

• Projects promoting decarbonisation, energy efficiency and the circular economy.

Eligible applicants: companies, self-employed professionals, technology centres, universities, associations and R&D units, provided they operate in Álava and meet the specific requirements set out in the call.

Required documentation includes, among others: a technical description of the proposed actions, financial statements, certification of staff registered in Álava, supplier quotations for significant expenses, and, where applicable, decarbonisation plans or proof of participation in innovation-related programmes.
