Intergaiak unveils a new sustainable surfboard designed for intermediate surfers looking to perfect their maneuvers and reach the line-up with ease

After an extensive research process and teamwork, Intergaiak, a company from Álava, has introduced its new 7-foot sustainable surfboard with a 33-liter volume. This board is designed for intermediate surfers looking to perfect their maneuvers and reach the line-up with ease.

🚀 An Innovative Design That Combines Performance and Sustainability

Through collaboration between Intergaiak and Instrumentos Camacho, they have developed an innovative model that blends high performance with sustainability, using locally sourced poplar wood and reinforced with linen fiber.

🔬 Optimized Design for Performance

The board has been carefully designed in NX Unigraphics software, featuring a balanced rocker in both the nose and tail, with rounded rails that transition into a 90-degree cut at the rear. This enhances stability and smoothness on every wave.

🌱 Sustainable Materials and Precision Manufacturing

They have opted for local wood and improved their production process using CNC (computer numerical control) technology. After extensive research, they found the lightest poplar wood available (450 kg/m³). They work it from its raw state, removing the bark, smoothing, and shaping it to create 3 cm high-quality panels.

🛠 “Chambered” Technique: Innovation in Construction

To reduce weight without compromising strength, they apply the “chambered” technique, creating a hollow internal block made from 17 longitudinal strips, designed in CAD and processed with CNC. This method optimizes the weight of the board while maintaining its durability and performance in the water.

🔄 Removable Fins: Functional Innovation

For added versatility, the board includes removable Futures fins, making transportation easier and allowing surfers to adjust their setup according to wave conditions.

💪 Eco-Friendly Reinforcement for Extra Strength

During testing, they noticed some flexibility in the central area due to the natural properties of wood. To counter this, they reinforced it with linen fiber and certified resin, a combination that not only improves durability but is also safer for health, as it does not release toxic vapors.

🎨 Handcrafted Finish and Final Touches

To complete the process, they apply custom markings and coat the board with acrylic paint and varnish, ensuring an attractive aesthetic and long-lasting protection against water and sun exposure.

🌊 A Unique and Customizable Model

Nothing excites us more than seeing an idea come to life in a board that is functional, eco-friendly, and fully customizable. We are incredibly proud of this new model and thrilled to share it with the surf community.

🛹 Soon, you’ll have the chance to try it and take sustainable surfing to the next level!
